Cookie Policy

Updated:

This policy explains how LoansFinder.co.nz ("LoansFinder", "we", "us" or "our") uses cookies and related technologies, what information they can collect, and the choices available to you.

Read this policy alongside our Privacy Policy, which identifies the website operator and explains our wider practices for collecting, using, protecting and disclosing personal information.

1. What cookies and similar technologies do

Cookies are small pieces of information that a website stores in your browser. They can help remember a preference, recognise a browser or attribute a visit to a particular link. A cookie does not necessarily contain your name, but information associated with it can still be personal information.

  • First-party cookies are stored under the domain of the website you are visiting. Third-party services can also create or use cookies under that domain.
  • Third-party cookies are associated with a different domain, such as that of an advertising or analytics provider.
  • Session cookies are intended to last for a browser session. Persistent cookies have a specified expiry and may remain until they expire or are removed.

Related technologies include browser storage, tracking links and small scripts called beacons. Server logs can also record visits. These technologies do not all depend on cookies, so blocking cookies does not necessarily prevent every website request or form of measurement.

2. Our cookie notice

Our cookie notice uses the following first-party cookie to remember that the notice has been acknowledged:

Cookie used by the LoansFinder notice
Name Provider and purpose Configured duration
CookieConsent LoansFinder. A functional cookie that remembers acknowledgement of the notice and helps prevent it from appearing repeatedly. 730 days from when it is set, subject to earlier deletion, browser expiry limits or other browser restrictions.

Despite its name, this cookie records acknowledgement of the notice; it does not provide separate preferences for each tracking purpose. Acknowledging or closing the notice does not, by itself, switch off analytics or third-party scripts. The services and links described below may involve other technologies.

3. Analytics and third-party scripts

Cloudflare Web Analytics

Our pages include a Cloudflare Web Analytics beacon to help measure website use and performance, including page views and loading times. Cloudflare states that this analytics service does not use cookies or local storage to collect usage metrics, and does not fingerprint individuals for analytics. This description concerns Cloudflare Web Analytics specifically; it is not a statement that every service on this website is cookie-free.

You can read more about Cloudflare Web Analytics and Cloudflare's privacy practices .

Google-hosted scripts

Our pages may load a Google-hosted tag. Loading a third-party script can send technical request information to its provider, including your IP address and browser information. Further collection depends on the services enabled, their configuration and your browser settings. We do not describe all information sent to Google as anonymous or promise that it cannot be associated with other information.

See how Google uses information from websites using its services and Google's Privacy Policy .

4. Affiliate links and referral tracking

Some links to lenders, referral partners or other providers may be affiliate or tracking links. They may include a reference that tells the recipient that a visit came from LoansFinder. Depending on the arrangement, the recipient may use cookies or other identifiers to connect that visit with a later enquiry or transaction and calculate a referral fee or commission.

Tracking can therefore occur through a link even if third-party cookies are blocked. A destination website's own privacy and cookie notices explain its collection, retention and available controls. A setting on LoansFinder does not automatically change settings on another website.

Referral attribution does not, by itself, authorise a credit check, an application for credit or unrelated marketing communications. Any collection of loan enquiry information is explained separately in our Privacy Policy and the relevant form notice.

5. Information these technologies may collect

Depending on the technology involved, technical information may include your IP address, browser and device characteristics, page addresses, referring links, visit times, interactions, performance measurements and referral identifiers. Not every service collects every item.

These details may identify you, or become identifiable when combined with other information. Removing a name, shortening an IP address or producing summary reports does not automatically make the underlying information anonymous. Where information is personal information, our Privacy Policy and applicable privacy law govern our handling of it.

6. Your choices and consent

You can use your browser's privacy settings to inspect and delete cookies, block particular sites from storing them, or restrict third-party cookies. Your browser's help pages explain the options available for your device.

  • Deleting our notice cookie may cause the notice to appear again. It does not itself stop other scripts from loading.
  • Blocking cookies can affect saved preferences and features that depend on them. Cookie-free analytics and ordinary server logging may still operate.
  • Browser settings generally apply to that browser or profile. You may need to adjust them separately on another device or browser.
  • Clearing cookies does not automatically delete information already received by us or another provider.

This policy is an explanation of our practices, not a substitute for any consent required by law. Simply visiting, scrolling through a page or closing a notice is not an express agreement to optional tracking. Any consent request must explain the relevant purpose and provide an appropriate way to change or withdraw that choice.

Cookie choices are separate from permission to receive marketing, submit a loan enquiry or disclose application information to a provider.

7. Retention, recipients and overseas processing

A cookie's expiry controls how long it is intended to remain in your browser. It does not determine how long related information is held on a server. We retain personal information only for as long as needed for purposes for which it may lawfully be used, as explained in our Privacy Policy.

Relevant technical information may be processed by providers supporting hosting, security, analytics and referral attribution. Providers may operate outside New Zealand. Our Privacy Policy explains our approach to service providers and overseas disclosures. Linking to another provider's policy does not remove our responsibilities for information we collect or disclose.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when our website, providers or practices change. The date above identifies the latest revision. Where a change requires additional notice or consent, publishing an updated policy alone will not replace that requirement. An update does not retrospectively authorise a new use of information already collected.

9. Questions and privacy requests

To ask about cookies, request access to or correction of personal information, or raise a privacy concern, contact our Privacy Officer at info@loansfinder.co.nz. Including the page address and browser involved can help us investigate a technical issue; please do not send passwords or banking credentials.

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle requests and complaints, including how to contact the New Zealand Office of the Privacy Commissioner. Nothing in this policy limits rights or protections that cannot lawfully be excluded.
